Celebrating Earth Day at Grand Erie
April 22 is Earth Day, and once again Grand Erie invites students, staff, families and community members to join us, alongside millions of people from around the globe, to celebrate this important movement.
Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 and “marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.” Fast-forward to the present, more than one billion people in more than 190 countries from around the world have joined the movement in collaborative efforts to #TakeCareOfThePlanet.
Ecoschools is hosting a free public Earth Day keynote on Thursday, April 22 from 1 to 2:30 pm. The keynote will feature Larissa Crawford, Indigenous and anti-racism teacher, public speaker and founder of Future Ancestors Services. She will deliver a powerful and inspiring presentation to “develop a unified understanding of climate and racial justice learnings and actions” via Zoom. This event is open to classrooms, communities and the general public. For more information and to access free educator resources and student activity sheets, visit https://ecoschools.ca/eecom/keynotes/#larissa-crawford.
We also encourage you to visit www.earthday.ca for other fun activity ideas and ways to get involved to help “make every day Earth Day.”
