Greg Anderson Selected as Grand Erie’s Board Chair for 2020-21
For the fourth year in a row, Trustee Greg Anderson has been selected as Board Chair of the Grand Erie District School Board. Anderson was chosen by his peers at the Board’s Nomination Meeting on Monday night.
“This is a crucial year for Grand Erie as we continue to face the ongoing challenges of COVID-19,” said Anderson. “I’m honoured that my Trustee colleagues have once again supported my leadership. Together, we remain focused on the health and well-being of our students and staff as well as the impact COVID-19 is having on all of our communities across the district.”
Anderson, in his second term as a Trustee, was first elected during the 2014 Municipal election. Prior to running for office, Anderson had a dedicated career in education as a teacher, vice-principal and principal. He was a Superintendent of Education at Grand Erie for more than a decade before he retired in 2013. In 2016-17, Anderson was Vice-Chair of the Board before moving to Board Chair in 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20.
“In an unpredictable year, I’m fortunate to work with such a dedicated group of Trustees,” said Anderson. “These community leaders always put the interests of our students first and are committed to our Multi-Year Plan and our goal of Success for Every Student.”
Trustee Susan Gibson, who was Committee of the Whole Chair this past year, was acclaimed as Vice-Chair of the Board for 2020-21.
Other election results from Monday’s Nomination Meeting include:
