Grand Erie Appoints Peter Ashe, Regan Vankerrebroeck as Superintendents of Education

Grand Erie is pleased to announce that Peter Ashe and Regan Vankerrebroeck have been appointed as Superintendent of Education for the district.
“We’re privileged to have these two leaders join the senior leadership,” said JoAnna Roberto, Ph.D. Director of Education and Secretary to the Board. “Both Peter and Regan bring strong commitments to education and inclusion, as well as decades of knowledge and experience in the district. Their strengths and achievements are closely aligned with Grand Erie’s strategic priorities.”
Peter Ashe has had an extensive and diverse career in education, including elementary teaching and administrative roles. Most recently, he was Principal Leader K-12 of Safe and Inclusive Schools for Grand Erie, where he demonstrated a commitment to removing barriers to students and worked towards alternative and inclusive approaches to student discipline. He has worked on system-wide and provincial teams developing curriculum resources and supporting a range of initiatives. Ashe has 24 years of experience in education, with 19 of those gained in Grand Erie.
“I’m excited to make immediate and long-lasting contributions to learning, well-being and belonging at Grand Erie,” said Ashe. “My experience has prepared me well for this the opportunity to work with leaders and communities in the district, support student achievement and strategic goals of the organization.”
Regan Vankerrebroeck also has extensive teaching and administrative experience in Grand Erie, primarily in secondary schools across the district. He has had a number of system leadership roles, and most recently was Principal Leader of K-12 Program. Throughout his career, his focus has been on the needs of students. His work as an educator has spanned many different locations, subjects, pathways, and leadership opportunities, effecting meaningful change to lead to improved outcomes for students. Vankerrebroeck has 22 years of experience in education, almost all of that within Grand Erie.
“This is significant opportunity to bring my experience to a broader role in Grand Erie to learn, lead and inspire,” saidVankerrebroeck. “I’m excited for this new role, and grateful for the opportunity to continue my commitment to supporting the needs of students.”
Peter Ashe’s and Regan Vankerrebroeck’ s superintendent responsibilities are effective September 1, 2023.
