Grand Erie Ratifies Agreement with CUPE Members

Brantford, Ont. – Grand Erie District School Board is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with all three of its local Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) bargaining units. In Grand Erie, CUPE represents Educational Assistants, Communicative Disorder Assistants and Food Technicians; Facility Services; and Office, Clerical and Technical staff.
"Reaching this agreement represents a lot of hard work and a strong spirit of collaboration," said Susan Gibson, Board Chair. "CUPE staff members work in a diverse range of roles in Grand Erie, and their dedication has a tremendous impact on our learners and their families each and every day."
The agreements were ratified by Grand Erie's Board of Trustees on Monday, February 27, and over the weekend with each of the three bargaining units, which collectively represent more than a thousand employees in Grand Erie.
"I want to extend congratulations and sincerest appreciation to the entire team that worked together to reach this agreement," said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education. "I look forward to what this means in terms of our ability to continue working together to build a culture of learning, well-being and belonging, which our CUPE members play a crucial role in delivering."
Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 25,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk as well as students from Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
