Susan Gibson Elected Chair of the Grand Erie District School Board for Third Term

he Grand Erie Board of Trustees elected Susan Gibson as the 2024 Chair of the Grand Erie District School Board during the annual Board Nomination and Organization meeting held on Monday, December 11. Brian Doyle was acclaimed as Vice-Chair of the Board.

Gibson represents the City of Brantford, and this is her third one-year term as Chair of the Board.
"I would like to thank everyone for their contributions this past year," said Gibson. "It has been a privilege to be part of the learning, leading and inspiring taking place across Grand Erie, and I am positive that 2023-24 will bring further growth."
Gibson was first elected to the Board in 2018. She has a more than two-decade career as a health care leader, advocating for patients and their families. She has transferred that passion for helping others to her role as Trustee in public education, collaborating and problem-solving to support student success.
Doyle, who represents the County of Haldimand, is now embarking on his third year in the role of Vice-Chair.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve students and communities in this role,” said Doyle. “We have made significant gains over the past few years, and I am looking forward to continuing this work together in support of learning, well-bring and belonging.”
Also elected during Monday night's meeting were:
- Claudine VanEvery-Albert as Grand Erie's Ontario Public School Board Association (OPSBA) Director/Voting Delegate
- John Bradford as OPSBA Alternate Director/Alternate Voting Delegate.
Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 26,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, as well as secondary students from Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
