Friday May 3

  • The Hidden Valley Café is open for business! We are selling delicious deep-dish lasagna!  We also have deli sandwiches, a variety of cookies, brownies, beverages and jumbo freezies for sale. See you in room 100 during the lunch hour.
  • Grads: today is the last day to nominate a classmate for valedictorian. Votes must be submitted by 3pm.
  • The football equipment is in. Come to Turning Point and find Mr. Samborski to get your order. Junior Football forms are due by Wednesday. Hand the signed forms to Mr. Samborski in Turning Point.
  • Prom meeting today at lunch in Room 218.
  • The Girls soccer team had an excellent game last night. Mrs. Backus will announce it on Monday.

Thursday May 2

  • The Café is open for business! We have a variety of fresh baked homemade cookies, delicious deli sandwiches, an assortment of beverages and jumbo freezies. Come down to room 100 during the lunch hour to purchase a tasty treat. Tomorrow we will be serving delicious lasagna.
  • Thank you to all the athletes and teachers who participated and helped with Track & Field yesterday. Winners will get medals at the award assembly in June.
  • Last night Eytan and Amilya travelled to Cambridge to compete in Track Wars steeple chase. Eytan finished first place out 80 runners and Amilya finished 2nd out of 40. Great job bears!
  • Girls baseball practice at lunch today. Meet at the bleachers at the start of lunch, bring your glove.
  • Any students who had art at the Capitol Arts Gallery in Simcoe – it has been returned and is available for pick up in Room 218. There is also art available from last semester students ready for pick up.

Wednesday May 1

  • The Hidden Valley Café is open for business! Today, we are hosting an outdoor barbecue! We are barbecuing delicious hamburgers, and hotdogs. We are also selling freezies, and an assortment of beverages.
  • Today is Track & Field Day. Here are a few rules that athletes must follow. 
  1. No permission form – no participation – you will be expected in class. 
  2. You may not add events. If Mr. Dwornikiewicz made a mistake then he will fix it. 
  3. Ribbons will be given out for the first 3 placings in each event. You may pick them up in room 116 approximately 15 minutes after your event has finished. 
  4. The schedule of events are located on the gym walls.

  • The girls soccer team had an excellent game last night against Simcoe, narrowly losing 3-2. Big shout out to everyone who played hard in the heat, it was a tough game. Coach Backus was really impressed, especially with Amelia Adams who took a hard hit and went back into the game with determination. Please let Mrs. Backus know if you can make practice on Wednesday.

  • French for the Future is excited to announce the opening of applications for the National Ambassador Youth Forum (FNJA) 2024 edition! This transformative program is set to showcase the benefits of bilingualism in an inspiring 6-day adventure in Edmonton from August 4 to 9. The participants will then become ambassadors for French in their community during the following school year.
    • Applications are open to students nationwide who are currently in Grade 10 or 11 and enrolled in a French program. Interested students are encouraged to register before May 6, 2024.

We will talk about the possibility of doing a few practices in May to try some new things and set some direction for Norfolk Fair in the fall. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and practices – anyone who isn’t currently on the team will just need a signed permission form which will be available at the meeting. Questions? We will talk about the possibility of doing a few practices in May to try some new things and set some direction for Norfolk Fair in the fall.
