    Program: eLearning Courses (asynchronous)

    Grades: 7 to 12

    Status: COMPLETED

    Program Description and Objectives: 

    • Offerings include 3 Reach Ahead for current Grade 7 and 8 students: 
      Business Technology (1.00 credit), Civics (0.50 credit) and Career Studies (0.50 credit).
    • Registrations are due Thursday, June 27, 2024
    • The short orientation for eLearning courses will be open on Friday, June 28. You will receive an email from the Ontario eLearning Consortium confirming registration.
    • Grand Erie Secondary students must discuss with their guidance counsellor before registering. You must have your guidance counsellor’s approval.
    • This program is coordinated by Grand Erie Learning Alternatives (GELA)
    • Please refer to our updated Course Selection Information to learn what courses are held at each location.
       

    Important Grand Erie eLearning Dates:

    • Tuesday, June 25: Students will receive log in instructions for Summer School 
    • Thursday, June 27: Students will receive a welcome email direct from their teacher
    • Friday, June 28: Course orientation module opens for students in Brightspace
    • Tuesday, July 2: Official start to course
    • Friday, July 26: Final day of course

    • Families will be contacted and offered the corresponding eLearning courses by the Summer Learning office.

    • Program to run daily from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., from Tuesday, Jul. 2, 2024 to Friday, Jul. 26, 2024 at the Six Nations Polytechnic campus located at:

    Program: Organized KAOS Construction Camps 2024

    Grades: 8 and 9

    Status: Spaces available

    Program Description and Objectives: 

    • This camp is open to Grand Erie District School Board students and Six Nations elementary students.
    • At Organized KAOS Camp, Students entering grades 8 to 9 will gain confidence in themselves as they learn how to use a mitre saw, bandsaw, drills, impact drivers, and how to use a tape measure.
    • In addition to trades skills, students will learn basics in mathematics, specifically how to add, subtract and divide fractions in a hands-on way. Students will learn to respect the tools as they learn proper safety techniques. Each student will get to build and take home a completed project.
    • There are limited spaces available. Students registered once the camp is full will be wait-listed and will be notified.  
    • Lunch is provided.

    Program: Culinary Chef Camp 2024

    Grades: 8 and 9

    Status: FULL

    Program Description and Objectives: 

    • This camp is open to Grand Erie District School Board and Six Nations students Grade 8-9

    • Students will learn basic cooking skills including proper measurement and following recipes and written instructions. Students will have the opportunity to create multiple dishes including baking under the supervision of chef instructors. 

    • There are limited spaces available. Students registered once the camp is full will be waitlisted and will be notified.  

    • Lunch is provided.

    Program: Small Engine Camp 2024

    Grades: 8 and 9

    Status: FULL

    Program Description and Objectives: 

    • The Small Engine Camp is available to Grand Erie and Six Nations students in Grades 8-9. 

    • This camp will provide an introduction to the operation, and maintenance of small engines, typically found in lawn mowers, chainsaws, motorcycles, Students will participate in hands-on activities including small engine tear down and rebuilding, etc. 

    • There are limited spaces available. Students registered once the camp is full will be waitlisted and will be notified.  

    • Lunch is provided.

      • July 15 to July 19 - Brantford Collegiate Institute & Vocational School - **CLASS FULL**
         

    Program: Welding Camp 2024

    Grades: 8 and 9

    Status: FULL

    Program Description and Objectives: 

    • Welding camps are available to Grand Erie and Six Nations students in Grades 8-9 with a goal to changing the perceptions of youth about welding and careers in welding. Students will participate in hands-on activities including various welding techniques with a culminating hands-on project. 

    • The camp will provide an engaging experience for participants that may capture their interest and encourage pursuing welding opportunities in their secondary and postsecondary education. They will build confidence and self-esteem while actively learning new skills. 

    • There are limited spaces available. Students registered once the camp is full will be waitlisted and will be notified. 

    • Lunch is provided.
