    CAMP SAIL
    (Summer Adventures In Learning)

    Grades: 2, 3 and 4 (as of Sept. 2024)

Status: School administration to contact families

Camp SAIL returns for 2024, with in-person summer camp focused on building skills in literacy and numeracy to help bridge the gap between the end of the school year and the start of a new year. The fun, supportive environment will provide students with a jumpstart on learning.

    What is Camp SAIL?

    • Grand Erie is offering a free summer camp for three weeks in July (July 2-19).
    • The camp focus will be on further developing students’ numeracy and literacy skills. Grand Erie teachers will provide fun and engaging activities to help students practice and enhance their skills and strategies.
    • Activities and materials to be used during the camp will be delivered to students. These items may be kept by the students upon completion of the program.

    Who is Camp SAIL for?

    • Student who have just completed grades 1, 2, and 3 (going into grade 2, 3, and 4) who would benefit from support meeting curriculum benchmarks in literacy and math.
    • Students who have been invited by their school, as described below.

How do I register my child for Camp SAIL?

    1. Space is limited, and right now, Camp Sail participation is by invitation only from your school.
    2. Schools will be in contact with families of students who have been offered an invitation to Camp SAIL. Schools will register students when caregivers give consent.
    3. Due to limited spaces, Students who meet criteria and have been registered by their home school, will be randomly selected. Families will be notified if their child has been selected to attend Camp SAIL.
    4. If there is still space once the initial invitations have gone out, we will open up Camp Sail to broader registration. Watch this page for more information.

    When is Camp SAIL?

    • The dates for the camp are Tuesday, July 2, 2024 until Friday, July 19, 2024. Attendance for the full 3 weeks is mandatory.
    • Camp will run from 9 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (except the first week, which will run Tuesday to Friday to honour Canada Day long weekend).
