2021 Feature Stories
Today, April 15, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Simcoe Composite School in Simcoe. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Today, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Lakewood Public School in Port Dover.
As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Today, April 12, the Ministry of Education directed all Ontario schools to pivot to remote learning after the Spring Break, effective April 19, 2021. Before- and after-school programs have been directed to close during this time. No date was provided by the government as to when in-person learning will resume for Grand Erie students.
Today, April 11, the Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Agnes G. Hodge Public School in Brantford. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Today, April 9, the Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at North Park Collegiate and Vocational School in Brantford. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.

The Grand Erie District School Board welcomes news today that Brant County Health Unit and the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit will offer prioritized access to the vaccine for Grand Erie staff who provide direct support to students with special education learning needs starting on April 10.
On April 7, 2021 the Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Cedarland Public School in Brantford.
On April 6, 2021 Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Russell Reid Public School in Brantford and Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at McKinnon Park Secondary School in Caledonia.
