Grand Erie can’t wait to welcome you back to our schools and classrooms, and we’re thrilled to share some of the plans in the works to make this year our best one yet.
Grand Erie is proud to acknowledge the graduating students receiving significant scholarships, bursaries and awards this year.
Christine Bibby, Grand Erie’s Safe and Inclusive Schools Lead, was presented with the Patti McCleister Memorial Award on Monday evening, the highest honour bestowed upon a staff member.
Cavelle Sproule’s short fiction piece Eight, Ten, Twelve was awarded the top honour at the recent Laurier Stedman Prize celebration, a contest open to secondary students across the region, recognizing outstanding creative writing.
The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation has officially wrapped up its third annual Read4BCHS event, raising a grand total of $26,257 for pediatric care.
Since 2010, Grand Erie schools have been showing up for sustainability in their communities in a big way, examining their environmental impact and identifying unique ways to reduce their footprint through the EcoSchools program. This initiative is designed to teach the importance of environmental learning and climate action so that our community can thrive.
Today (June 21) marks National Indigenous Peoples Day. It is an opportunity to celebrate and honour the diverse experiences, achievements and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. It is also an opportunity to learn about the histories, rights and realities that reflect where we are today.
Last November, a group of students at North Park Collegiate and Vocational School decided they wanted to do something positive to address racism, and support inclusion and understanding in the school community.
There will be new voices at the board room table this fall as current student trustees wind down successful terms, and get ready to pass the torch to peers who will take on the important role of representing students across Grand Erie for the 2022-23 school year.
Grand Erie District School Board’s Ryerson Heights Elementary School is set to become Edith Monture Elementary School, honouring the Ohsweken-born World War I veteran who was the first Indigenous woman in the country to become a registered nurse, and the first Indigenous woman and registered band member to gain the right to vote in Canada.
