School Council

The role of the School Council is to encourage communication and partnership between parents and educators in the interest of supporting student achievement and excellence. The Council also provides parental and community input to decision making at the school level.

During the last few school years, the School Council facilitated a Family Literacy Night, a Parent Forum with Ron Morrish and Math Night.

New members are always welcome! If you are interested in learning more about the role of the School Council, please contact one of the school administrators in the main office. Our meetings are usually the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Volunteer Program

The students and staff at Banbury Heights value the positive contribution that volunteers make in our school community! There are a wealth of opportunities for parents and community members to get involved in our school. Volunteers are welcomed and appreciated in the following areas:

Library

  • library management and circulation
  • assisting students to select "just right books"
  • book and visual displays
  • computer assistance
  • Strong Start

Healthy Snack Program (Tammy Crayne, Program Coordinator)

  • shopping
  • food packaging and preparation
  • snack days are Tuesday and Thursday

Classroom Support

  • reading with individual students and small groups
  • sharing personal skills and "passion" areas (i.e. music, art, drama, technological skills, sports and recreation)

All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and provide a recent police check (within two years) including a vulnerable sector screen. Training and support will be provided for all volunteers joining our school.
