On Saturday, October 21, 2017 Haldimand County OPP will be conducting Criminal Record Checks between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at their detachment located at 72 Haldimand Highway 54 in Cayuga.
Criminal record checks will be completed while you wait. Criminal Record Checks can only be processed for residents of Haldimand County.
The blitz is being held on the weekend when the detachment office isn't normally open to make it easier for people who are at work during our regular office hours.
All volunteers must provide a letter from the agency they are volunteering at. The letter must be on the agencies letterhead and must be signed by someone at the agency. If volunteering at multiple organizations then a letter is required from each organization.
For applicants who require fingerprints to be taken or those with a criminal record, the record check will not be processed the same day, however, application forms will be accepted and processed later.
Criminal Record Checks for employment/schooling/adoption/fostering etc. will cost $25 which can be paid by cash (exact amount) or debit (no credit cards accepted). There is no fee for volunteer criminal record checks.
Two pieces of identification must be provided at the time of application. Copies of identification will not be accepted.
Acceptable forms of photo identification include Driver's Licence, LCBO BYID (Bring Your Identification) Card, Military Employment Cards, Canadian Citizenship Cards, First Nations Status Card, Passports, Permanent Resident Card, Canadian National Institute for the Blind Card, Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licences, Ontario Photo ID card (issued by the MTO), Nexus Card and Fast Pass Card.
Acceptable non-photo identification includes Birth Certificates, Baptismal Certificates, Hunting Licences, Outdoors Card, Canadian Blood Donor Card and Immigration Papers. Ontario Health Cards, Social Insurance Number Cards and Old Age Security Cards are not permitted to be used as identification due to legislative restrictions.
Criminal Record Checks usually take an average of two weeks for paid record checks and 4-6 weeks for volunteer checks longer if there is a backlog of applications.
Anyone who has any questions is asked to call the Haldimand County OPP detachment ahead of time so that the process can run smoothly at the blitz. The Haldimand County detachment contact number is 905-772-3322.
