Content for Schools in the News features are produced by individual schools to shine the spotlight on the stories, accomplishments, and initiatives that make each unique.
2021 Feature Stories
Grand Erie District School Board and Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, in partnership with LifeLabs, the Brant County Health Unit, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit and the Ministry of Education, will offer targeted asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for students and staff at no cost, starting April 10, 2021.
Effective Tuesday, April 6, 2021, students at Cedarland Public School (Brantford), Lakewood Elementary School (Port Dover), and Mt. Pleasant School will temporarily transition to virtual learning.
Grand Erie District School Board welcomes its newest student trustees for the 2021-22 school year – Sierra Green, Carson Kitchen and Reilly Mitchell. Each student trustee is elected to represent school communities throughout Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk Counties.

Langton School teacher Tracy Reese is being recognized for her engaging teaching methods and adaptive strategies that are fostering a love of math in her classroom. Reese was recently selected as an Impact Influencer by Knowledgehook, an instructional guidance system that uses insights to assist teachers as they work with students’ individual needs to find success in numeracy.
