Cedarland, Lakewood, and Mt. Pleasant Students Temporarily Transitioned to Virtual Learning
Effective Tuesday, April 6, 2021, students at Cedarland Public School (Brantford), Lakewood Elementary School (Port Dover), and Mt. Pleasant School will temporarily transition to virtual learning.
Due to the number of active cases and individuals identified as close contacts, for administrative reasons (staffing) and in consultation with Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit, the board has made the decision to move Lakewood students to online learning. Mt. Pleasant will also transition to online learning due to administrative reasons. Students at these schools will transition back to in-person learning after Spring Break on April 19, 2021.
Out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with Brant County Health Unit, Cedarland students are being transitioned to online learning due to administrative reasons pending further investigation by the health unit at this time. Public health will notify the board and school when it is safe to transition back to in-person learning.
During this virtual learning period, teachers at these schools will use D2L Brightspace and other virtual platforms to provide synchronous and asynchronous learning to students throughout the school day.
Cedarland, Lakewood, and Mt. Pleasant families who previously selected online learning through the board’s Virtual Learning Academy are not impacted by today’s announcement.
