Content for Schools in the News features are produced by individual schools to shine the spotlight on the stories, accomplishments, and initiatives that make each unique.
2021 Feature Stories
Brian Kingshott, teacher at Paris District High School, is a 2021 recipient of the Baillie Award, recognizing excellence in secondary school teaching. The award is especially meaningful, given that teachers are nominated by graduating students in Queen’s University undergraduate programs as they reflect on their success and honour a teacher who had a formative influence on their academic journeys.
Teaching hands-on art lessons during remote learning can be one of the trickier subjects to translate online, but Grand Erie educators are finding ways of adopting new approaches that ensure the arts stays front and centre so students can continue to flex their creative muscles.
The Grand Erie District School Board is pleased to share that in response to the direction received from the Ministry of Education, all active Grand Erie staff will be eligible to book their first COVID-19 vaccination, beginning May 6.
It's Education Week! Each year, throughout Education Week, students, families, staff and community members across Grand Erie celebrate all our collective achievements, lived experiences and express our gratitude to one another. During this unprecedented time, it is more important than ever that we are reminded of these successes to continue being a beacon of light for our communities.
May is Asian Heritage Month. Grand Erie would like to take this opportunity to invite staff and students to celebrate and learn more about the many contributions that Asian Canadians have made to our community and to our country.
Tomorrow, May 1, marks National Principal’s Day. The Grand Erie District School Board acknowledges, celebrates, and thanks all the principals and vice-principals who lead our schools every day.
Today, April 28, marks Administrative Professionals’ Day. We would like to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate all the administrative professionals who keep our schools running smoothly and efficiently every day.
April 28 is National Day of Mourning. On this day, we take a moment to remember and honour those who have been killed or injured on a work site.
