Grand Erie District School Board is pleased to share that in response to the direction received from the Ministry of Education, all active Grand Erie staff will be eligible to book their first COVID-19 vaccination, beginning May 6.
Eligible staff includes daily occasional teachers, casual staff, lunch monitors and emergency instructors. Please note any Grand Erie staff member is eligible for the vaccine, no matter where they live or work.
Grand Erie staff can schedule a vaccine time slot with the health unit that is applicable to where they live and/or work. The vaccination is voluntary and offered at no cost to staff.
“We are delighted at this news that all remaining active Grand Erie staff can now book their first COVID-19 vaccines,” said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education at the Grand Erie District School Board. “The health and safety of our staff and students remain a top priority at Grand Erie. We would like to thank our staff, students and families for working hard to ensure they are adhering to the health and safety guidelines in helping to slow and stop the spread of COVID-19. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our public health units for their continued collaboration to ensure this extra layer of safety.”
Specific details will be provided to these school staff now eligible for the vaccine. At the time of registration, staff will need to complete a COVID-19 screening and consent form. Staff should remember to wear a mask and bring their Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card to their appointment.
