2023 Feature Stories
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) and Grand Erie District School Board (Grand Erie) have officially obtained ownership of a 6.18-acre site in Caledonia, the future home of a joint-use elementary school site that will serve the needs of the area’s growing population.
As students’ needs evolve, Grand Erie does too. For the second year, Grand Erie is providing schools with wellness kits, filled with proactive activities and School Mental Health Ontario resources to help focus awareness and promote positive mental health strategies.
Our public health units have issued a heat warning for our region. A heat warning is issued when Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts two consecutive days with a maximum daily temperature of 31°C or higher during the day and a minimum temperature of 21°C or higher during the evening, or a humidex of 40°C or higher.
As summer begins to wane and new opportunities await, we want to wish all Grand Erie learners and families a wonderful start to the 2023-24 school year!
Schools are ready to welcome students back in the Grand Return on Tuesday, September 5! Here are some links and information to help make it a successful start.
As the population of our region grows, Grand Erie is growing right along with it. Part of that planning includes a new multi-use facility on Shellard Lane in West Brantford, including an elementary school with a child-care centre, public library and recreation centre that will serve the community’s needs for many years to come.
Grand Erie is pleased to announce that Peter Ashe and Regan Vankerrebroeck have been appointed as Superintendent of Education for the district.
All across Grand Erie, students and staff are taking action to support a healthy planet. This year, 13 schools participated in EcoSchools, a curriculum-linked program designed to nurture environmental learning and embrace sustainability.
We are excited to announce a remarkable opportunity to join our Audit Committee and assist Grand Erie's Board of Trustees in fulfilling its duties related to governance and oversight.
There’s lots to be proud of as the class of 2023 gets set to move on to new challenges and experiences on their post-secondary paths. For some graduates, the hard work and achievement obtained in secondary school are helping launch this next stage of their academic careers.
