School Council's purpose, through the active participation of parents, is to improve pupil achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents.
In the simplest terms, we are just people committed to making Jarvis Public School the best place it can be. We volunteer our time, skills, and connections to strengthen the partnership that exists between home and school.
Our activities range from fundraising to special events, and advising to developing school policy. We sponsor, support and organize activities which may be in-house or off-site to engage student learning and/or enhance their learning environment.
We are always looking for new members to join. We typically meet six times per school year in the evening. Our meetings are open to the public so anyone may participate. For working parents, this is a great venue to volunteer and voice safety concerns, be informed of what's going on administratively at the school, and provide suggestions to improve our school.
Our Council is not only made up of parents/guardians, but the Principal, a teacher representative and a community representative as well. Child minding is available.
If you have any questions, are interested in joining, want to raise an issue or share a compliment please feel free to approach me directly, or email chairjar@outlook.com. You can also check out our bulletin board in the front foyer to learn of upcoming meetings and see what we have accomplished in the past few years.
Become a volunteer today and foster a sense of community in your child.
Let's help "The Jets" soar to even greater heights this year!
