Opportunities in Visual Art

AP Studio Art

AP Studio Art and Pre-AP Studio Art are available to motivated students in grades 10, 11 and 12.  Students will complete a portfolio in the area of 2D –Design, Drawing, or 3D-Design that they will submit for grading by AP Canada.

Portfolio Development

Students who have aspirations of following a career in Visual Art and Design should plan to take all art courses available.  This is the best way to build a strong portfolio.  The portfolio is a selection of a student’s best work, from the final two years of high school.  NPC art teachers will help students tailor their portfolio to meet the specific needs of any post-secondary course.

The Senior Art Show

For the past 16 years the NPC Senior Art Show has showcased the talent of our art students in a group exhibit in the school library.  All art students from grades 11 and 12 are encouraged to show their work, which will include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, computer generated art and mixed media.  The show will open at the beginning of June.

Opportunities in Drama

Mainstage

Every year NPC Drama presents a weekend of exceptional theatre.  Students audition, rehearse and perform for audiences.  Recent years we have done Pygmalion: The Rock Musical, Laramie Project, Shakespeare in Love and War, to name a few.  Come out and join NPC Drama – you’ll be glad you did!

SEARS Festival

NPC has written original scripts and presented them at The Sears Festival (Ontario theatre adjudicated competition for students).  In 2015, students performed Down Came the Rain and received two acting awards, including best male actor, and were short-listed for the Southern Ontario Youth Theatre Festival, top 25 youth plays in Southern Ontario. Lots of work BUT lots of fun!
