CWOSSA Results

Congratulations to all of the track and field athletes who represented Paris so well at the CWOSSA championships on Wednesday and Thursday at Jacob Hespeler in Cambridge! Everyone gave it their all and represented the school so well! We had several top ten finishers on both days but unfortunately only the top 5 athletes qualified for the OFSAA West Regional meet to be held next Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2 at Sandwich Secondary School outside Windsor.

Top ten performers were:

* Brooke Morton placed 7th in the midget girls 100m

* Our midget girls 4 x 100m relay narrowly missed qualifying and placed 6th

* Jordyn Charlong also narrowly missed qualifying in the midget girls shot put, placing 6th

* Storm Laro placed 8th in the midget boys long jump

* Mackenzie Campbell got injured during the junior girls long jump and just missed qualifying, placing 6th.

* Mackenzie also narrowly missed qualifying in the junior girls javelin despite throwing her personal best, and she placed 6th.

* Eve Feairs placed 7th in the midget girls high jump

We had two outstanding performers at this year’s meet who have both qualified in multiple events for OFSAA West! Congratulations and best of luck go to Ella Stowe who placed second in all three of her individual events: midget girls long jump, midget girls triple jump and midget girls 200m. Our second qualifying athlete is a repeat qualifier from grade 9 and an OFSAA medalist from 2017! Congratulations to Leandra Mitchell for placing 3rd in the junior girls 100m and 4th in the junior girls 200m! Way to go everyone!

Also, there will be a track team picture at the start of lunch on Tuesday, May 29 in the double gym. Please bring your uniform and those who did not qualify will return them after the photo to Mrs. Ernst.
