    By-law, Policies, Procedures and Protocols

    General Working By-law/General Governance Policy/Governance Policies

    The By-law, General Governance Policy and Governance Policies are directives that the Board of Trustees follows with respect to conducting the business of the Board of Trustees.

    Policies

    A Board policy is a statement of intent and governing principles that provide the framework for a position or direction of the Board of Trustees.  Policies are intended to guide action and include an objective, policy statement and references.

    Procedures

    Procedures are directives and operational in nature, outlining the "how" of policy objectives and include purpose, guiding principles, definitions and references in a formalized process. A procedure aligns with the principles of a policy.

    Review and Revision Cycle

    1. Policies and Procedures are reviewed on a four-year schedule.
    2. The General Working By-law, General Governance Policy and Governance Policies is brought to the Board for review and approval.
    3. Policies shall be brought to Policy and Program for review. The Board will approve the circulation to stakeholders.
    4. Policies shall be circulated to all stakeholders for a minimum of 30 days, for input with respect to revisions.
    5. Policies shall be modified after consideration of stakeholder input.
    6. Policies are brought to the Board of Trustees for approval. 
    7. Any revised General Working By-law, General Governance Policy and Governance Policies, Policy and Procedure are posted on the school board’s website.
