About Us

MPSS is dedicated to the welfare and success of its students. With McKinnon's understanding and cooperative staff, it's broad selection of courses and attention to detail, MPSS is an ideal place for students to grow and develop. Here at McKinnon, assisting students as they make the transition into post-secondary education and into the workplace is the school's main priority. Our staff assist students with everything from horticulture to calculus, helping them every step of the way. At McKinnon it is our main goal to allow students to reach their full potential and give them all the resources they need to be successful later in life.

Principal's Message

Welcome to MPSS! MPSS is an exciting and dynamic place to learn, to teach, and to grow academically, personally and socially. At MPSS you will have every opportunity to be successful in a wide range of courses that you have to choose from. Set some academic goals, work hard and take advantage of every opportunity to attain your goals. Your success will be determined by your attendance, effort and willingness to accept assistance. Whether you are planning to move on to college, a trade, university or the workforce, make this a year that you will look back on with pride. Do your part, and every member of our school community will be there to help support you.

McKinnon Park Secondary School has a long tradition of mixing academic excellence with extra-curricular activities and community involvement. We hope that you will choose to be part of the Blue Devil tradition of excellence in athletics, drama, music or one of the many other clubs available. Seize every opportunity to be part of the MPSS school community and all that it has to offer. Code of Conduct

Highlights of Student Code of Conduct:

All students at McKinnon Park Secondary School will be treated with consideration and respect. Students will be presented with opportunities for varied learning experiences through classes and extended-curricular and co-instructional activities.

The educational experience requires certain attitudes and behaviours from students.

  • Following is an excerpt from the Education Act 1998:
  • attend classes punctually and regularly
  • be diligent in attempting to master such studies as are part of the program in which the pupil is enrolled
  • exercise self-discipline
  • accept such discipline as would be exercised by a kind, firm and judicious parent
  • show respect for school property.

Using the Education Act and certain policies of the Grand Erie District School Board as guides, a committee of staff, students and parents have developed a "Code of Behaviour" for McKinnon Park Secondary School.

In brief, at McKinnon Park Secondary School, students are expected to:

  • attend classes regularly
  • be punctual for classes, equipped and prepared to participate
  • complete all assigned work
  • submit their own work on assignments, projects, tests, etc.
  • conduct themselves properly on school buses
  • show respect for students, staff and self
  • treat school property and property of others with respect
  • refrain from smoking on school property
  • refrain from violent behaviour, use of restricted or banned substances, unacceptable language, sexist behaviour and language, racist behaviour and language and illegal activities.

School Council

Come out and join us! As a school council member, you can help your council discover new and exciting ways to contribute to the education of students in your school.

Education is a partnership involving parents, students, teachers, principals, school boards, government, and the community. Your involvement in the council gives you the opportunity to strengthen that partnership, and to be part of a dedicated team working to ensure a high quality of education and an accountable education system for the children of Ontario. Your participation can make a difference!

Meeting Dates: All meetings are held in the school library on the first Wednesday of September, October, November, February, April, and June at 6:00 p.m.
