Kindergarten-Grade 8 Literacy/Numeracy Teacher Consultant - Elementary Program
Without question, the best part of my job is all of the learning I get to do! A very close second is the opportunity to meet and work with administrators, teachers, educators and students from all over Grand Erie. It is a huge privilege to be a part of the program team for Grand Erie.
What was your first job, and what did it teach you?
My first jobs were coaching gymnastics, teaching swimming lessons, and lifeguarding. These jobs solidified the fact that I wanted to work with children. They taught me that your words and actions matter and are powerful. I also learned over many years that cold water is not for me.
What motivates you?
My family – I want my girls to know the value of hard work, doing what you love, and that they can create their own paths. My friends – they challenge me! My colleagues – I want to be a valued contributor to our team so I need to be “on my game.”
What’s your favourite thing about working in Grand Erie?
The people! In this role I get to travel throughout the board and meet so many amazing people. I am so lucky to have the opportunity to do this job and work with so many people I may not have otherwise had a chance to get to know.
How does your role contribute to Success for Every Student?
In this role, we have the unique opportunity to work with all levels of education staff to identify and respond to what we know about our students. Although I don't work directly with students as often in this role, I like to think that by working and learning alongside the program team, teachers, and administrators to target and support the needs of our system, I am indirectly supporting the students in their classrooms and schools.
What’s a skill or talent you possess that might surprise people?
I don't possess any skills or talents... that's sad. Maybe this will be incentive to learn something new.

If it feels like too much, take a step back, but don't stop.

When you know better, do better.
What’s been your most important lesson learned during the pandemic?
There is always reason and room to grow, learn, change, adapt and adjust. We have had to do this in all areas of life over this past year.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, you will find me with my family playing games, going for hikes, doing some yoga, reading, and driving my girls to and from gymnastics (hopefully we'll be doing that again soon).
