Mental Health Week at Grand Erie

Each year, staff and students at Grand Erie join millions of people from across the country as we raise awareness and encourage dialogue surrounding mental health. Mental Health Week (May 3 to 7) is an additional opportunity for us to remind ourselves that in times when we’re feeling anxious or stressed, our mental health is a priority. It is important that our Grand Erie community feels heard and supported, not just throughout this week, but every day.

This Mental Health Week, Grand Erie will focus on one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing for each day of the week. The Five Ways to Wellbeing was developed in the United Kingdom in 2008 by the New Economics Foundation (NEF), which identifies “five simple, evidence-based actions that can be applied in a variety of ways to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in everyday life.”

The Five Ways to Wellbeing for each day of the week are as follows:

  • Monday: Give. Give your time, your words, your presence.

  • Tuesday: Take Notice. Remember the simple things that give you joy.

  • Wednesday: Be Active. Do what you can. Enjoy what you do. Move your mood.

  • Thursday: Connect. Talk and listen, be there, feel connected.

  • Friday: Keep Learning. Embrace new experiences, see opportunities, surprise yourself.

Grand Erie’s Mental Health and Wellness Team has put together resources to help students, families and staff lay the foundation to build their resilience to face any obstacles they may encounter during these extraordinary times and in their daily lives.

These resources include:
