Update (June 19, 2017): Great news for South East Norfolk Elementary Families. Ministry of Education approves Grand Erie's Accommodation Review Recommendation.

January 15, 2016: A report has been submitted to the Board of Trustees at the Committee of the Whole Meeting No. 2 on January 18, 2016. The report, pending approval, approves the Accommodation Review for the South East Norfolk Elementary to commence with the first meeting to be held on March 22, 2016 at Lynndale Heights Elementary School. More information will be shared after the Committee of the Whole Meeting No. 2 on January 18, 2016.
Update (April, 2015): A motion was recommended for approval that the Grand Erie District School Board initiate an Accommodation Review for the South East Norfolk Elementary to commence January, 2016. Schools included in the review will include: Elgin Avenue Public School, Lakewood Elementary School, Lynndale Heights Public School, Walsh Public School and West Lynn Public School. See more information below.
The French Immersion program at Walsh Public School services Norfolk County students and has enjoyed a successful implementation. The French Immersion program enrolment is exceeding the regular program enrolment for recent cohorts and is projected to surpass regular program enrolment in 2018 and beyond.
Future accommodation options to accommodate French Immersion growth include amending the boundaries with adjacent schools including Elgin Avenue Public School, Lakewood Elementary School and West Lynn Public School.
The Board has identified Elgin Avenue Public School as a priority for major renewal or replacement for some time. One option to address the pressures at Walsh and capacity at Elgin and Lakewood is to consider a consolidation of area schools and an application for funding to rebuild a new school on the Elgin site.
In addition to the four recommendations, the Trustees approved at the Regular Board Meeting on April 27, 2015 that the Grand Erie District School Board initiate an Accommodation Review for the South East Norfolk Elementary to commence January, 2016. Schools included in the review include: Elgin Avenue Public School, Lakewood Elementary School, Lynndale Heights Public School, Walsh Public School and West Lynn Public School.
